More Than 100 Polygraph Examiners Learn About Eye Detect at Lie Detection Conference in Colombia
An informal survey revealed the majority of polygraph examiners feel this technology provides a complementary service for their existing business. Converus sees great potential for its technology in Colombia.

Polygraph examiners from several countries descended on the Latinamerican Polygraph Institute’s lie detection event in Colombia to learn from Dr. David Raskin how Converus’ lie detection technology EyeDetect can help them better serve their customers.
BOGOTA, Colombia – Oct. 22, 2014 – More than a 100 professional polygraph examiners flocked to Colombia-based Latinamerican Polygraph Institute’s (LPI) Oct. 21 lie detection conference, which featured Converus’ EyeDetect technology. Converus Science Team Member Dr. David Raskin also spoke at the event. He’s world-renown for his work in investigating and developing improvements to the polygraph.
The conference received so many applicants that organizers had to hastily relocate the event from LPI headquarters to Club Oficiales FAC to accommodate the larger group.
Of the 108 examiners present at the event, 85 percent declared in an informal poll that Converus’ lie detection technology is complementary to the polygraph.
“The people who attended recognized that EyeDetect has great potential to help them expand their business opportunities,” said Pablo Barrios, Converus’ South American regional manager of sales. “They liked our easy process, the security of our portal and relatively low costs.”
The day after the LPI conference, Converus representatives presented their technology to 25 key industrialists in the country ― including Hyundai, Copa Airlines, Avianca Airlines, Andina Seguridad and Omnitempus ― with great success.
“All of these companies need a trustworthy, safe and efficient way to promote cultures of honesty in their companies,” said Barrios. “And 100 percent of them expressed great interest in the potential of our company to fulfill that need.”
Colombia will offer ripe testing ground for lie detection technology.
“I see a great future for Converus in Colombia,” said Barrios. “We have had a very strong security culture for 20 years because of guerrilla warfare and the drug dealers. If the president signs a peace treaty with the guerrilla groups, our society will need to offer employment to these people and we will need this technology to be available.”
