LEHI, Utah – March 8, 2023 – Organizations and individuals can now accurately verify the truth about a person in about five minutes with VerifEye by Converus, a new app for iOS and Android phones. Potential users include corporations, government agencies, law enforcement, banks, insurance companies, security firms, and online marketplaces.

Since tests can be downloaded to and self-administered on anyone’s mobile phone in most major languages, Mickelsen says it has a far more wide-spread application and potential usage than current truth verification solutions. This includes the company’s flagship product, EyeDetect, which takes 15-30 minutes per test and requires the examinee to sit in front of a computer with specialized hardware and sensors.
Mickelsen added that VerifEye could also save insurance companies “billions of dollars” by helping expose fraudulent insurance claims.
Other usage examples include financial services companies confirming a person’s identity or credit history before establishing a new account, loan or extending a line of credit; or online marketplace sites verifying a professional profile prior to this individual interacting with a customer. In addition, dating websites can validate the truthfulness of a client’s personal profile.
“When utilized in combination with other verification methods and systems, VerifEye can add validity to a selection or review process,” said Mickelsen. “Verifying a person’s identity prior to coupling it with a biometric such as facial recognition or iris enables the organization to confidently rely on the biometric for future transactions.”
How VerifEye Works
VerifEye — a self-administered test that measures involuntary eye behavior to verify truth — gives organizations an inexpensive, instant and remote option for pre-screening job applicants for disqualifying behaviors, which will help streamlining the hiring process.
Organizations or individuals can easily send a unique link via text message or email to the test taker. Clicking the link enables the test taker to download the VerifEye app from the app store and self-administer the test from their mobile phone. The mobile device’s camera on the back records eye behaviors. No reading is required because a digital voice asks test questions using the device speaker. Verbal responses are recorded by the phone’s mic.
Once the test is completed, data are uploaded, analyzed and scored in near real time. Test results are readily available to the test originator in a dashboard or via the VerifEye API. The test is greater than 80 percent accurate. Unlike Converus’ EyeDetect technologies, no proctor is required, but VerifEye offers a proctor mode that allows the test originator to manage and monitor the testing process from their own phone.
