Converus Expands, Appoints New VP of Latin America and Caribbean Sales
Long-time sales executive and current manager Fernando Ferreira has been promoted by Converus to help introduce the company’s lie detection technology, EyeDetect, into more Latin America countries — and for the first time into the Caribbean market.
LEHI, Utah – Sep. 14, 2015 – Demand for Converus’ lie detection technology EyeDetect in Latin America has grown rapidly since the company began its sales efforts earlier this year. To help oversee this increased demand, Converus has promoted Fernando Ferreira from regional sales manager to vice president of Latin America and Caribbean sales.
“We now have more than 100 clients in Latin America,” said Converus VP of Worldwide Sales Neal Harris. “Fernando, who speaks multiple languages and has lived throughout this region, is imminently qualified to help us manage our continual growth and expansion plans in these countries.”
Ferreira, currently based in Monterrey, Mexico, has also lived in Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Costa Rica, Canada and the U.S. He’s fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English. In addition to managing current Converus employees in Mexico, Central and South America, he’ll also manage the nearly 30 Converus Service Providers throughout the region.
“I truly appreciate the opportunity to help drive sales initiatives in the region and more effectively serve our current customers and Service Providers,” said Ferreira. “We have a great team and an unbelievably innovative product in EyeDetect that has redefined the world of lie detection technology.”
EyeDetect is an accurate, non-intrusive technology that detects lies by analyzing eye behavior — such as pupil dilation, blink rate and fixations. These involuntary eye movements are monitored by an infrared eye tracker while a subject answers true/false questions on a computer screen. Companies that administer lie detection tests in the workplace use it for pre-employment screening of job candidates and periodic testing of current employees.
“Private entities and governments desperately need this lie detection solution to reduce fraud, bribery, theft and other corruption,” said Ferreira. “I’ve seen it help create and maintain environments of trust, integrity and accountability.”
Ferreira has more than 18 years’ experience selling in the telecom, enterprise software and simulation industries. He previously worked for Alianza, LANDesk, Blackbaud Inc., Imadigi, and Immersive Technologies. While at Immersive, he increased sales by 660 percent in 18 months. He has a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología.
