Meth between Polygraph Exams
By Ashley Mazerolle, Marketing —
Polygraph is often referred to as a lie detector test. Polygraph measures several physiological indices such as skin conductivity, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration while the subject answers a series of questions. The belief is humans have physiological responses when they lie, so the machine measures those various indicators.
What is polygraph
In the United States, polygraph is used as an interrogation tool for criminals, employees, and even students. If you were to be strapped into a chair with all of these measuring devices connected to you, I can only assume how uncomfortable and nerve wracking it would be regardless of your guilt/innocence in the matter at hand.
Odd Behavior
Weeks ago, in South Carolina, a woman who had gone to the Union County Sheriff’s Office to be polygraphed, started acting strangely after she had returned from taking a break during her polygraph exam. She went out for a smoke, and when she returned ‘her demeanor changed and she became lethargic’, according to deputies.
The exam resumed but was quickly stopped due to her erratic behavior. It was discovered that she had methamphetamine, and several Schedule IV controlled substances on her person and was obvious she had consumed them. Needless to say, they were unable to continue the exam.
Less Invasive
Polygraph has been known to take several hours to test a subject. The EyeDetect exam takes around 30 minutes to complete. While it’s a shorter exam, it’s also less invasive. Subjects are not hooked up to wires or monitors, rather they sit in a chair and read questions on a screen.
If law enforcement were to utilize EyeDetect, they would be able to test subjects quicker and easier. This is why a lot of police agencies, including the Salt Lake City and City of Kent police departments are using the solution. It’s affordable and takes a fraction of the time to test.
