US Congressional Candidate Dr. Mike Schmitt of CA Uses EyeDetect to Scientifically Validate His Honesty and Integrity
Running for the House of Representatives in the 49th District, Schmitt says he’s the most honest candidate in the race. Now he has the evidence to prove it.
LEHI, Utah – May 3, 2018 – As a nonpolitician running in the 49th Congressional District of California, Dr. Mike Schmitt has gone all out to tout his honesty and integrity. This week he passed a Converus EyeDetect lie detector test designed for congressional candidates. Now, he has the evidence to back up his claims of honesty and integrity. Schmitt has challenged his opponents to also take the test.
“Voters need to start with as honest of a person as they can find. Right now, it’s me,” said Schmitt, a resident of Dana Point, CA and doctor of neuro-audiology. “My claim can be backed up by a scientifically validated lie detector test. My opponents cannot make that same claim.”
Schmitt is the third California politician this week to pass a lie detection test specifically designed for Congressional candidates. Test questions focus on the illegal use of funds, bribery, professional conflicts of interest, conspiracy, and ties to terrorism organizations. Other candidates that passed the test this week are Edwin Duterte of the 43rd district and Jazmina Saavedra of the 44th district. These three are the first political candidates ever to voluntarily submit to a lie detection test.
EyeDetect is the world’s first nonintrusive lie detection technology that accurately detects deception in 30 minutes by analyzing involuntary eye behavior — including pupil dilation, blink rate and other eye movements. During the automated true/false test, an eye tracking camera takes approximately 60 measurements per second of each eye. At the conclusion of the test, the data are securely uploaded to a cloud server where proprietary algorithms determine whether the examinee is truthful or deceptive. Because the test is automated, the test administrator cannot manipulate the outcome of the test.
“The fact that I’m not a product of the political system is a higher probability that I’ll stay honest because I haven’t had to exchange or receive any loyalties from others,” said Schmitt.
Schmitt feels his top two opponents are vulnerable. A 2013 Orange County Register story names Diane Harkey and her former husband, Dan, in an investment fraud trial. Diane was later removed from the fraud case, but a follow-up story reported Dan was ordered to pay $11.6 million. Schmitt questions the honesty of another opponent, Rocky Chávez. In three campaign events, Chávez has said that he has run unopposed for office in primaries, while his Republican opponent was sitting in the audience.
“That’s why people think politicians are liars and corrupt. And a lot of them are,” said Schmitt. “I invite my opponents to take the EyeDetect test and see if they can get certified honest and trustworthy.”
Schmitt wants to do what he can to rid government of dishonesty and corruption. He‘s hopeful that his verified honest and trustworthy strategy will help win over the 21 percent of undecided voters in his district, which includes portions of coastal South Orange County and North San Diego County.
