EyeDetect+ Wins 2022 Govies Government Security Award
With this award, Security Today magazine recognized this automated polygraph as a superior employee screening tool for the government security industry.
LEHI, Utah – April 26, 2022 – Security Today magazine — the only integrated product and technology magazine reaching the entire security market — and securitytoday.com, an editorial website for the security industry, today released its 2022 winners in The Govies Government Security Awards competition. EyeDetect+ by Converus, the world’s first automated polygraph, earned a platinum award in the employee screening category.
The awards honor outstanding government security products in a variety of categories.
“EyeDetect+ makes the polygraph examiner’s job easier by automating the testing process, and it substantially improves the examinee’s experience because the blood pressure cuff – which can become extremely uncomfortable when contracted for long periods of time — has been replaced with small sensors attached to the wrists,” said Converus President and CEO Todd Mickelsen. “This revolutionary technology is certainly deserving of this Security Today magazine award.”
EyeDetect+ monitors and records physiological activity — similar to a traditional polygraph — as well as the same ocular data from the standard EyeDetect test. Test data are collected and then analyzed by an advanced algorithm. Credibility assessment experts say this automation increases the reliability, objectivity and speed of the testing process, which assures an impartial and more honest determination of the examinee’s innocence or guilt.
“In just minutes, polygraph examiners can create EyeDetect+ test questions, which are then administered by a computer,” said Mickelsen. “The automation eliminates the potentially biased human element from the test administration process and all examinees are treated equally.”
In 2020 Security Today named the initial release of EyeDetect+ the New Product of the Year Award Winner, also in the employee screening category.
“The pandemic has wreaked havoc worldwide, but security manufacturers continued to work hard designing new security solutions for the government sector,” said Ralph C. Jensen, editor in chief, Security Today magazine and securitytoday.com. “This is truly a testament of dedication and vision to ensure the best products are available for government use. Manufacturers should be proud of their employees for providing the best solutions in these challenging times. We appreciate the opportunity to enhance the marketplace by honoring these award winners.”
An independent panel of judges from the security industry selected the top entries in this year’s Govies using criteria including features, innovation, user friendliness, interoperability, quality, design, market opportunity, technical advances, and scalability, as well as impact upon the security industry.
1105 Media’s Infrastructure Solutions Group, which owns Security Today magazine and several other industry media brands that provide new product and technology solutions for security professionals, launched its government security awards program in 2009. According to 1105 Media’s press release, participation in the program was greater than ever this year as government security continues to be an ongoing concern.
In addition to receiving awards, the winners will be featured on securitytoday.com and highlighted in a future issue of Security Today magazine.
