EyeDetect Now Has Same Exportation Classification as Polygraph
This reclassification by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce applies to EyeDetect and EyeDetect+.

EyeDetect (left) and EyeDetect+ are now classified by the U.S. Department of Commerce as polygraph instruments for purposes of exportation.
LEHI, Utah – Feb. 23, 2022 – The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), which manages export control for the U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC), recently notified Converus that EyeDetect and EyeDetect+ have been reclassified as polygraph instruments for purposes of exportation.
Since its original product release in 2014, EyeDetect had been classified by the USDOC as an “unrestricted” product, which is the same classification given to commodity products. The export classification control number (ECCN) has changed as EyeDetect has continued to increase in usage and popularity worldwide, as well as received increased support from polygraph examiners. The newly assigned ECCN for EyeDetect and EyeDetect+ is 3A981, which is the same one assigned to polygraph instruments.
The impact on business will be minimal as Converus will assist its authorized service partners and customers to apply for and receive an export license to continue purchasing EyeDetect and EyeDetect+ as they have in the past.
EyeDetect is a nonintrusive, scientifically validated lie detection technology that accurately detects deception in 15-30 minutes by analyzing involuntary eye behavior. EyeDetect+, released in 2020, is the world’s first automated polygraph.
