Deception Technology Start-Up Converus Makes UVEF’s 2014 Hot 100 List
Annually, the Utah Venture Entrepreneur Forum creates a list of the 100 most-discussed ventures in Utah. Lehi-based Converus, which announced its EyeDetect technology to the world earlier last year, makes its debut on the list.
LEHI, Utah – Feb. 2, 2015 – Converus, a Utah-based startup dedicated to detecting deception with its EyeDetect technology, earned a spot on the coveted Utah Venture Entrepreneur Forum (UVEF) 2014 Hot 100 Award list. The list, sponsored by EPIC Ventures, recognizes the 100 most buzzed-about companies in Utah less than five years old.
“There’s stiff competition in the venture game and we’re honored to have our company’s employees recognized for their hard work,” said Converus President and CEO Todd Mickelsen.
Last April Mickelsen announced the release of EyeDetect, a technology that detects deception by monitoring eye behavior. EyeDetect uses an infrared optical scanner to measure a number of involuntary, uncontrolled changes that occur in the eye if the examinee responds deceptively while reading a series of questions on a computer. It’s designed to help companies prescreen potential hires and periodically screen current employees for theft, drug use, bribery and other criminal activities.
Votes by members of the UVEF group and the general public determine which companies will be included on this list. Venture groups statewide rally their followers annually to vie for a spot. UVEF’s mission is to recognize entrepreneurs, and connect them with mentors and capital.
