Optimism for this tech start-up soared amongst the 30 lie detection experts in attendance with the announcement of new products and growth expectations. Converus’ CEO says 2018 will be a “breakout” year for the credibility assessment technology company.
LEHI, Utah – Jan. 11, 2018 – While thousands of tourists turned fantasies into realties at nearby Walt Disney World, Converus’ executive team showed how they’re turning innovative lie detection technologies into real game-changing uses worldwide. More than 30 credibility assessment experts worldwide — including 19 from 11 different Spanish-speaking countries — attended the 4th Annual Converus Service Partner Conference at Disney’s Coronado Spring Resort Jan. 10-11 in Orlando, Florida.
“We predict 2018 will be a breakout year for Converus,” said Converus President and CEO Todd Mickelsen. “With the significant progress we’re making within the U.S. federal government market, as well as the new, advanced credibility assessment tools we’ve released, we predict sales will grow by 415% this year.”
Two major product announcements dominated Mickelsen’s keynote.
First, Converus Service Partners received a sneak peek into major new EyeDetect capabilities that are on the horizon. Plus, he announced the release of a new product, IntegrityDetect. This technology is the first integrity test based on the scientifically advanced autobiographical implicit association test (aIAT) technology, which accurately identifies the most trustworthy individuals within 6 minutes by analyzing how they implicitly associate themselves to a set of issues.
Mickelsen recounted Converus’ 2017 accomplishments, including increasing EyeDetect Global Service Partners from 83 to 116 and EyeDetect customers from 325 to 429, running 141 percent more paid tests in 35 Countries and in 20 different languages, and selling 132 percent more licenses to customers. The company also added U.S. law enforcement and key international federal government customers.
Nearly three quarters of Converus’ 2017 revenue was produced by the U.S. (27 percent), Mexico (24 percent) and South America (22 percent). The balance came from Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, Caribbean, the Middle East and Central America.
Toward the end of 2017, Converus released IdentityDetect, which Mickelsen called “an Innovative, online, scalable solution built on the TruthDetect platform. It’s ideal for financial institutions or immigration checkpoints.”
Mickelsen says what sets Converus apart from all other credibility assessment technology companies is its ability to leverage a “cognitive signature.”
“An EyeDetect test captures about 180,000 unique eye behavior measurements during the course of an exam — which are broken down into over 1 million data points,” explained Mickelsen. “Those measurements come as a result of an increase in cognitive load. The person has to think harder to lie or generate a lie. There’s physiological change exhibited in the eyes. One of the most telling signs is pupil dilation. Our technology captures those changes and determines whether the person is being deceptive by measuring the cognitive load increase.”
He said the same is true for the new products. IdentityDetect accurately detects fake identities in one to five minutes by analyzing variations in the motor nervous system responses of examinees, while IntegrityDetect accurately identifies the most trustworthy individuals within six minutes by analyzing how they implicitly associate themselves to a set of issues.
“We intend to become the world’s leading credibility assessment technology provider,” said Mickelsen. “We’re not satisfied providing just one solution. That’s why we now have a suite of credibility assessment technology solutions. This will help us fulfill our mission to help organizations, governments and societies worldwide create and maintain environments of honesty and safety.”
Concluded Mickelsen, “We will make a difference in the world by providing innovative credibility assessment solutions.”
Service Partners praised the conference.
“I think the conference has been just outstanding,” said Terry Mullins, managing director for UK-based Integrity Assured. “I’m very impressed with the new products announced.”
“I really learned a lot,” added Mark Almon, a senior program manager with the Potomac River Group. ” The new products coming out are exciting. They really expand the potential growth into other opportunities. It will make for an exciting 2018.”
