Putting the “Human” Back into Human Resources

AI will never be able to replace the human touch in human resources.
By Lydia Richins, Marketing —
There’s been a lot of talk about incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into human resources. The most talked about benefit is AI’s potential to scan job applications and find the best applicants in record speed. Couple AI with websites such as ZipRecruiter and LinkedIn and many HR workers may start wondering, “Will there be anything left in this job besides filling out paperwork and managing employee complaints?”
The Role of Technology
The first thing to understand is that technology is merely a tool (and yes, that includes artificial intelligence). The future of business is still the human-to-human interaction. It is and will remain people offering value to people. However, technology does change things. For example, we no longer need professional scribes in order to get a copy of our favorite book. So while HR will never be replaced, in order to thrive, HR needs to change from a traditional HR to a new, strategic HR.
The Future of Human Resources: Strategic HR
Technology will never be able to replace HR’s role in creating a positive company work environment. However, as technology takes over the mundane and simple tasks, HR can start acting in other ways technology can’t -strategically. In the future, if HR wants to stay vital they’ll need to focus on high-level activities such as rigorous screening, individualized training programs, and spotting talent. Most importantly, HR will stay vital if they can create solutions to problems in the company workplace then work with management in implementing their strategies.
Converus® Supports HR
I agree that you can never take humans out of human resources, but I also believe in the power of technology. One tool that Converus has developed to help HR is a new type character or integrity assessment test called IntegrityDetect™. This new test uses scientifically advanced aIAT technology for employee integrity testing to determine an applicant’s underlying integrity with 30 percent more accuracy than any other character test on the market. With supportive technology like artificial intelligence and IntegrityDetect, HR is on its way to make a greater impact than ever before.
