The Not-So Perfect Employee

When star employees lose their shine.
By Mitch Clarke, Marketing —
Ever feel like you’ve found the perfect employee? They appear to work hard, get along with their co-workers, and show potential for growth. Then they take a turn you never expected. You find they aren’t as professional and trustworthy as you had previously thought. This is what happened to Florida’s Department of Juvenile Justice when they recently had to fire a detention center supervisor.
Abusing the System
Symon Gooding was quickly rising ranks within the department before she was fired for falsifying information and buying stolen property. This revelation however, didn’t come until Gooding admitted it on a polygraph administered during an interview with a local police department. Her confession resulted in her rejection from the department and her dismissal from her job at the Department of Juvenile Justice. This star employee turned out to be a real dud.
Hire Integrity
In order to protect itself from future incidents like this and verify future employees, the Department of Juvenile Justice as well as other companies could implement employee integrity testing with IntegrityDetect™ test offered by Converus®. This integrity assessment test analyzes an employees reactions to various levels of dishonesty and returns a score determining the overall integrity of the individual. This score can be used by HR managers to determine the most qualified individuals and can also be used for regular overseeing of current employees. Integrity testing would not only ensure better employees, but would also enable HR directors more time to refocus on other pressing matters.
