New Charges Arise in Case of California Surgeon Accused of Date Rape
By Joshlin Sheridan, Marketing —
Last month, Southern California orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Grant Robicheaux, was charged with several counts of drugging and sexually assaulting women. He wasn’t alone in his crime, however. His girlfriend, Cerissa Laura Riley, was also charged with multiple counts of both assault and kidnapping to commit rape.
A Malicious Crime
According to the testimonies of those who have come forward, Robicheaux and Riley met women at bars or parties, or through dating apps. After meeting in public places, the couple drugged the women, taking away their ability to give sexual consent. The women were then taken to Robicheaux’s home and sexually assaulted.
New Charges against Robicheaux
Prosecutors have now announced that Robicheaux has new charges because five more accusers have come forward. This leaves many wondering if there are even more victims out there. The evidence is fairly strong against him, with several leads through phone calls and cell phone videos from alleged victims of the case. Should the couple be found guilty, the consequences are severe, with Robicheaux facing 82 years in prison and Riley with 63 years. Robicheaux fervently declares his innocence.
In these sensitive cases, it is important to consider every piece of evidence and use all methods possible to convict those who are guilty and protect those who are innocent. Converus, a credibility assessment technology company, has a lie detector called EyeDetect® that can quickly and accurately help resolve cases such as this.
EyeDetect
EyeDetect uses an eye tracker to catch data and works according to validated scientific research that proves that this tracking of eye behavior can measure if a person is being deceptive. Unlike the polygraph, this test is 100% computer based and algorithm-driven, leaving no room for human bias or administration to skew the results. Learn more about EyeDetect here.
