Human Nature and Sexual Assault

Never-ending Accusations
Every day new allegations emerge. News from Hollywood flashes names like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein. Shouts of “Me Too” ring though the internet. Washington is no less stained from such accusations. We all want it to stop. We want good people protected and defended, and we want justice for all –but how?
Understanding Human Nature
Writer David French says the key is first understanding human nature. Sexual assault is most often committed by men. It boils down to the fact that men generally have more sex drive, strength, and aggression. Mixed with power and wealth it can become a dangerous mix of ambitious men using high-status professions to get access to women. Opportunity can lead to entitlement, and entitlement can lead to abuse.
Using Human Nature
Fighting with biology is difficult and near impossible on a large scale. However, the key isn’t to fight it, it’s to channel it. Men’s natural sex drive channeled into marriage can create lifelong bonds between husband and wife. Their natural strength can be used to protect, lift, and build. Even aggression can be good when fighting the right enemy. Many entrepreneurs, soldiers, and athletes are successful because they channel their aggression. If we teach boys now that men protect, serve, and build we would see a world where headlines would praise men rather than despise them.
Fighting Today
However, while fighting abruptly against human nature may seem futile, fighting for justice isn’t. While the headlines today still scream of abuse, we need to find the truth. Yes, men lie, but women do as well. When evidence is scarce, perhaps the best way to protect the innocent is through lie detection technology. EyeDetect®’s half-hour unbiased test has the ability to reach far more people than the traditional polygraph. More truth would be uncovered, and more good, innocent people justified.
