Hiring Managers and Employers Find That Work Isn’t Everything
By Lydia Richins, Marketing —
What Hiring Managers DON’T Want
Ready to climb the corporate ladder? You may want to finish this article before you spend extra hours at the office and push yourself to your physical/emotional limits. You see, as the title states, work ethic isn’t everything. Granted it obviously is important; 54 percent of surveyed hiring managers and HR professionals stated that poor quality workers were bad hires. No surprise there. However, 53 percent of the same professionals said that workers with bad attitudes were bad hires.
What The Boss Is Looking For
While hiring managers sometimes overlook attitude in favor of skills (although they often end up regretting it), employers looking to give a promotion may not. They find that negative attitudes are contagious; one pessimistic worker lowers the performance of an entire team. A survey targeting employers found that 62% of employers are less likely to promote someone if they have a negative attitude.
