The show’s producers add EyeDetect to its arsenal of technologies to help determine the truth in relationship disputes using infidelity tests based on a new protocol forsingle-issue, diagnostic testing. Each episode featuring EyeDetect reaches up to 1.8 million viewers.
LEHI, Utah – November 26, 2018 – TheEyeDetect lie detection technology recently made its debut on the reality TV show, “Couples Court with the Cutlers.” The show incorporates technology, including polygraph, cellphone forensics, GPS tracking, DNA evidence — and now EyeDetect — to resolve relationship disputes. This nationally syndicated TV series airs in multiple cities with a potential viewing audience of up to 1.8 million per episode.
Representing the company behind EyeDetect is Converus Service Partner Brett Magleby of Utah-based Panther Security & Investigations. He appeared on three episodes of Couples Court this month. The show features Dana and Keith Cutler, the first married couple to preside over a television courtroom. Prior to presenting the EyeDetect results on-air, Brett provides a fairly in-depth explanation of the technology.
The Cutlers are completely in support of EyeDetect’s ability to accurately discern truth from deception. In one case, EyeDetect found the boyfriend guilty. After he continued to deny any wrong doing, Judge Dana said, “No, we got you. This [EyeDetect] picks up the things you can’t control in your eyes and in your movement. So, what you are hiding you can’t hide from this test.” The boyfriend then promptly confessed.
EyeDetect is a nonintrusive, scientifically validated lie detection technology that accurately detects infidelity deception in 15 minutes by analyzing eye and other behaviors. Results are available within 5 minutes. It’s currently used by more than 500 customers in 40 countries worldwide in 25 different languages. In addition to generalized screening tests, EyeDetect also supports specific-issue, diagnostic testing — which was used on Couples Court.
“Everyone on the show is super professional, super nice,” said Magleby. “The Cutlers are very sincere about what they’re doing. They are genuinely interested in these cases.”
Appearing on this TV show has further convinced Magleby of the value EyeDetect brings those in the legal profession.
“EyeDetect puts attorneys back in the driver’s seat because it gives them leverage,” explained Magleby. “They tell their clients to take an EyeDetect test. They don’t care about the test results; they just want to know the truth about each client. If it comes back guilty, they tell the client to back down and just let them do their job. It nullifies the hyper-active ‘I’m innocent!’ clients.”
Magleby feels it’s a great idea for an attorney to use EyeDetect because it doesn’t cost the attorney anything.
“Armed with the results of an EyeDetect test provides an attorney a pre-emptive strike against the prosecution,” said Magleby. “And in the cases where a client is innocent, it’s always nice for a prosecutor to know the EyeDetect test results support that. It also always helps when the district attorney hears that vindication.”
Magleby is scheduled to begin shooting new Couples Court episodes early next year.
“After seeing how well EyeDetect did in these court cases, I’m an even stronger believer in EyeDetect,” said Magleby. “I’m convinced EyeDetect is an absolutely amazing technology. We have something good going on.”
Dana and Keith Cutler have been practicing law together for almost 30 years. They’re legal experts and trial attorneys. Dana practices education law with a focus on charter schools, while Keith is a civil defense trial attorney. On this show, which deputed in September 2017, they use technology, including cellphone forensics, GPS tracking, and DNA evidence among other things, to tackle relationship disputes. It has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program.
