Baltimore City Police: Capitalizing on Overtime
By Mitch Clarke, Marketing —
Eight officers in the Baltimore City Police Department were caught claiming overtime when they weren’t even at work. These officers were part of a special task force aimed at eliminating guns from Baltimore streets. Those involved were dismissed from employment and their fraud was put under investigation.
A Precinct of Criminals
The investigation revealed something much more alarming than fraud. These officers were also found to be involved with drug smuggling, money laundering, and much more. Some evidence suggests these cops confiscated weapons from dealers without a search warrant and sold the guns to other criminals in the area. By not filing the paperwork, nobody at the precinct became aware of their misdeeds.
Protecting the Agency
A corrupt police force is a waste of taxpayers money. In order to prevent against the issues faced by the BCPD, agencies should implement IntegrityDetect™ as part of their hiring process. IntegrityDetect™ is an integrity assessment test that provides a quick evaluation of the interviewee’s integrity and honesty. The test is online and provides results in minutes. Using IntegrityDetect™ for employee integrity testing will leave agencies with the peace of mind that their officers aren’t likely to abuse the system.
